What you need to use Fadeno in five minutes.
1. First launch
- Paste the activation code you received by email after purchase.
- Grant the permissions macOS asks for: Screen & System Audio Recording (to hear the call) and Microphone (for your voice). After granting them, quit with ⌘Q and relaunch.
2. Starting a meeting
- Join your meeting: Microsoft Teams, Zoom, Google Meet or whichever app you use.
- In Fadeno press Record.
- Optional: type the meeting topic (detected automatically in Teams and Google Meet; in Zoom, type it yourself) and any terms that tend to transcribe badly — product names, acronyms, jargon. Press Save and record.
System audio and your microphone are both transcribed. Tell the participants you are transcribing.
3. During the meeting
- Catch me up: summarises what was said in the last few minutes. Handy if you drifted off or joined late.
- Translate (⌥T): continuous English-to-Spanish translation under the transcript.
- Ask Anything: ask in plain language about this meeting or earlier ones (“which go-live date did we agree?”). Works while recording too.
4. Minutes
When you stop recording, the app writes the minutes on its own: summary, agreements, tasks and decisions. Your meetings appear on the home screen; open one to see its minutes and the full transcript.
- Translate to Spanish saves a translated copy next to the original, which is never modified.
- Download minutes saves them as a file to share.
5. Changing the meetings folder
- Open Settings (⌘,) → Storage.
- Under Meetings folder, press Change… and pick a folder.
Existing meetings are moved into the new folder. If it already holds Fadeno meetings, those are used and nothing is moved. The folder can't be changed while recording or while minutes are being written.
If your Documents folder syncs to iCloud, choose another one to keep your meetings off the cloud.
6. Deleting a meeting
- Open the meeting and press Delete.
- Type the word delete to confirm and press Delete forever.
All its files (transcript, minutes and translations) are erased and Ask Anything no longer finds it. There is no trash: it cannot be undone.
